Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 12 (ANI): Three persons, including a woman and a child died and one other sustained injuries after a recklessly driven truck hit a bike in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, a police official said on Friday.
The accident occurred at Sikroda crossing on Gwalior-Jhansi National Highway 44 under Bilaua police station limits in the district on Friday afternoon.
City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Hina Khan said, “A man, along with his sister and her two children were going on a bike. On the way, a recklessly driven truck hit the bike at Sikraunda crossing in which the man, his sister and her one-year-old child died on the spot. While the three-year-old daughter of the woman sustained injuries in the accident, she has been admitted to the hospital.”
After the accident, the victims’ family members blocked the highway. The police heard their problems and opened the highway giving assurance to the family, the officer said.
“After the accident, the truck driver left the truck on the spot and escaped from there. We have also sent a team to search for him and will be arrested soon,” She added.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, the officer further said.
According to the police, those who died were identified as Karan Kushwaha (22), Malti Kushwaha (28) and her one-year-old son. While Malti’s daughter (three years old) is undergoing treatment at Government Jaya Arogya hospital in the district.
Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vinod Singh said, “An unfortunate accident occurred here in the district in which three persons, including a woman and a child died while one girl child sustained injuries. These people belong to a Kushwaha family. They were going to Bhitarwar. After the accident, the victim’s family members blocked the road.”
They put their demand before the police that there should be proper traffic arrangement, speed breakers should be installed and there should be deployment of traffic police. All the demands have been accepted and action will be initiated on this after talking to high level officials, he added. (ANI)
