J-K: Indian Army rescues trekker from Gangbal lake area in Ganderbal – World News Network

Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 10 (ANI): Indian Army on Wednesday rescued a trekker who suffered from breathlessness and lost consciousness while trekking at 11,700 feet in Gangbal lake area of the Kangan subdivision in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, said the Army in a press release.
The Medical Officer of 34 Assam Rifles at Trunkhal Army Camp and his team rescued the trekker and administered a continuous oxygen supply.
The rescued trekker has been identified as Debasmita Rana (30 yrs) from West Bengal who was part of a team that was attempting the Great Seven Lake Trek in the Ganderbal District.
“Army rescues a Trekker from the Gangbal lake area of Kangan subdivision, Ganderbal district on 10 July 2024. The trekker Debasmita Rana (30 yrs) from West Bengal was part of a team which was attempting the Great Seven Lake Trek in the Ganderbal District,” read the statement.
Debasmita Rana was brought to the Trunkhal Army Camp of 34 Assam Rifles in an unconscious condition. According to the information, she complained of breathlessness when the group was crossing Zazibal Gali and coming down towards Twin Lakes Gangbal and Nundkol, at a height of 11,700 feet.
“While the group was crossing Zazibal Gali and coming down towards Twin Lakes Gangbal and Nundkol (11,700 ft), Debasmita Rana started complaining of breathlessness. Soon after that she went unconscious and was brought in the unconscious condition to the Trunkhal Army Camp of 34 ASSAM RIFLES,” said the army in a press release.
The Medical Officer and his team at the Army camp rescued her and administered a continuous oxygen supply. Their swift response and audacious rescue mission resuscitated her and saved her life.
Debasmita who is presently at Kangan Trauma Centre expressed gratitude towards the army personnel for saving her life and said, “I am eternally grateful to 34 ASSAM RIFLES and their heroic team. They are true heroes, and my words can’t fully express the depth of my gratitude. They saved my life, and for that, I’ll be forever thankful. Thank you, Indian Army, for giving me a second chance of life.”
The co-trekkers of Debasmita also thanked and appreciated the efforts of the Medical Officer of 34 ASSAM RIFLES at Trunkhal Camp. (ANI)
