Dimapur (Nagaland) [India], July 16 (ANI): Anil K Antony on Tuesday visited Nagaland for the first time after being appointed as BJP in-charge of Nagaland and Meghalaya and emphasised the party’s commitment to ensuring that Nagaland receives full support from the Central government.
While speaking with ANI, Antony said, “We have a very strong organisation here. I have started meeting all the leaders here. I still haven’t started meeting the allies…”
He further said, “We will ensure that Nagaland will get all the support from the centre and the state will continue growing.”
Meanwhile, Anil K Antony also took to his official X handle and posted about his visit to Nagaland. He said, “Gave the keynote address at the BJP extended state committee meeting today. Focused on our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental agenda, and our Act East policy. Look forward to working with our committed ‘karyakartas’ to grow the organisation in the state.”
He further said that the meeting was attended by senior leaders including Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State President Benjamin Yepthomi, Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton, National VP (BJP) M Chuba Ao, State GS (Org) Abhay Giri, Ministers Paiwang Konyak, Temjen Imna Along, Jacob Zhimomi and MP S Phangnon Konyak.
The BJP Nagaland also took to its official X handle and posted about the meeting that took place. It said, “State BJP President
Benjamin Yepthomi, while addressing the Extended State Executive Meeting of the BJP Nagaland urged the karyakartas not to be discouraged by the recent Lok Saba election results in Nagaland, but to continue to work hard to uplift the Party.”
It added, “Citing the recent results of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections in Nagaland, Yepthomi informed that the BJP Nagaland State set up a total of 52 ULB candidates across one Municipal Council and nine Town Councils in Nagaland. A total of 25 of them were elected out of which 14 are men and 11 are women Councillors. Out of the 11 women Councillors, three of them won uncontested. Likewise, four male Councillors won uncontested.”
Yepthomi further said that it was a matter of pride that 44% of the BJP Councillors are women. “This reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s endeavours of Nari Shakti and the mantra of ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab Ka Vishwas, Sab Ka Prayas,'” Yepthomi said. (ANI)
