Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 18 (ANI): Ahead of the plantation program, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday appealed to the public representatives of the Rural Development Department, Panchayati Raj, and Urban Development Department to plant 15 crore trees in the state.
On the tree plantation program across the state on July 20, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said, “I appeal to all the public representatives that we have to plant trees and also preserve them… The goal of planting 15 crore trees can be achieved by the Rural Development Department, Panchayati Raj, and Urban Development Department, alone. The forest department will also initiate the program of planting 14.5 crore trees.”
Earlier on July 7, the Yogi Adityanath government announced the establishment of ‘Mitra Van’ under Vriksharopan Jan Abhiyan-2024 along the borders of Uttar Pradesh and the neighbouring country of Nepal.
Locations have been selected by 35 forest divisions for this purpose.
On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Forest Department is coordinating with the neighbouring country and states to enhance greenery through the plantation of 35 crore saplings.
Additionally, alongside planting saplings on UP’s land at the borders, the Forest Department will also involve dignitaries from other states in this mega campaign.
Following the date set by CM Yogi (July 20), the Forest department is dedicated to ensuring the success of the Vriksharopan Jan Abhiyan-2024. Under this campaign, extensive tree plantation programs will be conducted in the border districts of UP. Robust preparations are being made in the 35 districts that border neighbouring states in this regard. (ANI)
