Indian Army fosters research in warfare studies through CLAWS Delhi to meet challenges of future conflicts – World News Network

New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi inaugurated a multiple resource facility, “Manthan Prangan,” at the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) on Monday.
The inauguration of “Manthan Prangan” not only marks a new chapter for the Indian Army’s leading think tank but also signifies a robust commitment to advancing national and global security.

Manthan Prangan, is a state-of-the-art infrastructure facility, to shape strategic thought, foster innovation, and offer actionable insights in the field of land warfare and conflict resolution. This modern facility will also be available to think tanks and agencies associated with work on defence and security matters. The facility will foster a culture of innovative research in collaboration with other stakeholders.
Nine Chairs of Excellence, aimed at attracting top-tier scholars and practitioners to further elevate CLAWS research capabilities, were also signed in the presence of the COAS. The Army Technological Chair of Excellence, established by the Deputy Chief of the Army Staff Capability Development and Sustenance, focuses on advancing military technologies for enhanced defence capabilities.

Captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria, Param Vir Chakra, Chair of Excellence, sponsored by the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Information System and Coordination), fosters research in military innovations and strategies.
The Civil-Military Fusion Chair of Excellence, sponsored by the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Information System and Coordination) and executed by the Territorial Army Directorate, enhances interoperability and strategic coordination.
The Major General Harkirat Singh Chair of Excellence, established by the Engineer-In-Chief Branch, focuses on advancing military engineering technology and innovation for enhanced defence capabilities.
The Director General Infantry Chair of Excellence, under the Infantry Directorate, focuses on advancing infantry tactics, technology integration, and strategic doctrine to enhance operational effectiveness and readiness. The General Zorawar Chair of Excellence, sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles Regiment, focuses on strategic studies and regional security, fostering research and dialogue on northern border security.
The Roaring Fours Manoeuvre Chair of Excellence, sponsored by the 44 Armoured Regiment, focuses on advancing armoured warfare strategies and tactics through rigorous research and innovative military education.
The Director General Artillery Chair of Excellence, under the Artillery Directorate, focuses on advancing artillery strategies, technologies, and operational doctrines to enhance the Indian Army’s combat effectiveness.
The Defence Chair of Excellence, sponsored by Adani Defence and Aerospace, fosters research and development in defence technologies to enhance India’s military capabilities and strategic autonomy.

This novel initiative will further enhance strategic studies and innovative defence research at CLAWS in collaboration with the Indian Army, heralding a new era of public-private partnership (PPP) models for advanced military studies.
The event also witnessed the release of two books by the COAS, “India and the Gulf: A Security Perspective” by Manjari Singh and “Securing the Future: A Youth Perspective on National Security Challenges,” both poised to make substantial contributions to the discourse on contemporary security challenges.
The event was attended by Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tarun Kumar Aich, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), Lieutenant General Dushyant Singh (retired), Director General CLAWS and other senior officers.
CLAWS, New Delhi is an independent think tank on strategic studies and land warfare. It covers national security issues, conventional military operations and sub-conventional warfare. (ANI)
