Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) [India], July 29 (ANI): Amid the continuous rain, Shri Kedarnath Dham witnessed an influx of devotees on the second Monday of Shravan month.
A large number of pilgrims and local devotees performed Jalabhishek and Dudhbhishek of Lord Kedarnath. On this occasion, special prayers and worship of Lord Kedarnath were also performed.
Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay said that till now more than nineteen and a half lakh pilgrims have visited Shri Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham, out of which a record eleven and a quarter lakh pilgrims have reached Shri Kedarnath Dham for darshan.
He appealed to the pilgrims to keep in mind the weather conditions and weather forecast during the journey so that the journey could be smooth and safe as the arrival of pilgrims continued despite the rain.
In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kamwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and Lord Vishnu’s avatar participated in the initial procession.
This month is believed to be a sacred month for the Hindus. Devotees across the country perform worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
Earlier on Wednesday, July 24, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered prayers at the Shri Kedarnath Dham, prayed for the happiness, prosperity and welfare of all the people of the state and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for making the reconstruction of Kedarnath Dham possible.
Durng his visit, the chief minister also met the devotees and Sadhus and sanyasis who came from other states to the temple and also took feedback regarding the arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra.
The Chief Minister also inspected the reconstruction work going on the Dham premises and instructed the officials about the necessary guidelines. CM Dhami said that the reconstruction work of Kedarnath Dham has been possible under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (ANI)
