“Writing letters to PM not enough to bring justice to victims”: BJP’s Tarun Chugh responds to CM Mamata’s letter – World News Network

New Delhi [India], August 30 (ANI): Responding to the West Bengal CM’s letter to PM Modi, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said that state administration must act with honesty and integrity as writing letters to the Prime Minister is not enough to bring justice to the victims.
Praising the Modi government, Tarun Chugh said that the government is committed to the safety and protection of women and children in our country and brought significant reforms like Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita in this regard.
In a post on X, Tarun Chugh wrote, “The government led by @narendramodi is committed to the safety and protection of women and children in our country. Under Modi Ji’s leadership, significant reforms have been introduced through the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. However, if a state is determined to protect criminals, it undermines the justice system. Writing letters to the Prime Minister to mislead the people of Bengal is not enough to bring justice to the victims. The state administration must act with honesty and integrity in such situations to ensure justice is served.”

Earlier on Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote another letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over the lack of response to her previous communication regarding the rape and murder of a PG trainee doctor.
In her letter, dated August 30, Banerjee emphasised the gravity of the situation and urged for prompt central intervention, highlighting the inadequacy of the reply received from the Union Minister of Women and Child Development.
In response to Union Minister Annapurna Devi’s allegations regarding the state government’s failure to implement essential safety measures for women and children, including Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs), CM Mamata stated that the state government has approved 10 exclusive POCSO FTSCs, while 88 FTSCs and 62 POCSO-designated Courts are functioning with complete state funding.
Urging for central legislation and exemplary punishment for heinous crimes, the West Bengal CM expressed hope for very considered attention from PM Modi.
Earlier, on August 22, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the central government to bring in central legislation and set up fast-track courts for “sensitive” issues to ensure a speedy trial in response to which Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi criticised the West Bengal government for its failure to implement essential safety measures for women and children in the state.
This development comes after the trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. (ANI)
