Discussions on opening Gandhi Vatika Museum ongoing : Rajasthan Urban Development Minister – World News Network

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], September 23 (ANI): A day after former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot warned the BJP led government in the state of staging a protest on September 28 on the demands of starting the Gandhi Vatika Museum, Urban Development Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra said on Tuesday that the process of discussion and decision making has been going on the government level.
Speaking to ANI, Kharra said that the committee constituted for the operation of the museum by the previous Gehlot government was cancelled by bringing a bill during the last assembly sessions because of the excessive powers given to the committee.
Further, he said that the process of discussion and decision-making of the operation and maintenance has been going on at the government level.
Kharra said that the museum should be run either by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), Archeology Department, Tourism Department or an institution should be formed through which the museum can be operated.
Further, he added that the decision will be taken very soon and that the money invested in the museum should be protected. He also said that it is the responsibility of the government to make sure that the common man can observe the museum and ensure that the government property is safe. Kharra also said that the decision will be taken in October.
On Monday, the former CM Ashok Gehlot criticised the Bhajanlal Sharma-led Rajasthan government claiming that the government has delayed in opening the Gandhi Vatika Museum in Jaipur. To protest the delay, the former CM, and other Gandhians have announced a dharna on September 28, at Central Park, Jaipur.
In a post on X, Gehlot criticised the BJP state government for not opening the museum to the public.
“Even after its inauguration about a year ago, the BJP government has not opened the Gandhi Vatika Museum in Central Park, Jaipur for the general public. This world-class museum has been built at a cost of about Rs 85 crore,” the post read.
He also mentioned that he had written a letter to the Chief Minister requesting the opening of the museum.
“I personally and through a letter also requested the Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to start this museum to spread Gandhiji’s message of truth and non-violence among the public,” he added. (ANI)
