Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 25 (ANI): Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla participated in a ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign event organised by the district administration at Fagu in Theog, Shimla.
Addressing women panchayat representatives and Self Help Group (SHG) members at the event held on on Monday, the Governor in an official statement emphasised the importance of collective responsibility towards cleanliness.
He said that the Swachh Bharat Mission is marking its 10th anniversary this year, with the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024’ campaign running from 17th September to 2nd October. The theme, “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata,” focuses on encouraging behavioural change, integrating cleanliness into daily life and culture.
The Governor highlighted key aspects of the campaign, such as general cleanliness drives, public participation, and Safai Mitra Suraksha Camps. He also mentioned efforts to provide health check-ups and include sanitation workers under social security schemes.
On the occasion, Governor Shukla called for support in the fight against drug abuse. He stressed that panchayat representatives and women can play a crucial role in making Devbhoomi Himachal drug-free by actively participating in this campaign.
During the event, the Governor administered the Swachhata pledge to Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) and Self Help Group (SHG) members. He also inaugurated a health camp organised in collaboration with the Health Department and launched a plantation drive, planting a deodar sapling alongside the Forest Department.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Anupam Kashyap, welcomed the Governor and apprised him about the work being done through self-help groups in the district.
During the discussion, Mahila Pradhans and ‘Didis’ of self-help groups apprised the Governor about the various works being done by them.
Representatives from Banni, Makhdol, Cheog, Dehna and Shateyan panchayats of Theog Sub-Division participated in the programme. (ANI)
