J-K: IGP VK Birdi reviews security measures enroute to Amarnath Yatra, camping sites and Yatra Camp Baltal – World News Network

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 24 (ANI): Kashmir Zone Inspector General of Police VK Birdi on Sunday visited the Baltal main yatra camp to assess the security arrangements and reviewed various facilities in preparation for the annual Amarnath Yatra.Amarnath Yatra is an annual significant pilgrimage for Hindus that shall commence on June 29 and conclude on August 19 this year.
Accompanied by senior police and CAPF officers, the IGP undertook a comprehensive inspection aimed at ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage for all yatris.
During his visit, IGP VK Birdi examined the steps taken for the regulation and parking of vehicles at Baltal.
He emphasized on the efficient management of all the resources to streamline the movement of yatris and vehicles.
He also reviewed the measures to be put in place for the implementation of the cut-off timings in order to avoid any potential risks during the pilgrimage.
Disaster management preparedness was another crucial aspect of the inspection, with Birdi IGP overseeing the readiness of teams and infrastructure to handle any emergency situations effectively.
Helipad security was also assessed during the visit for heli service operations and it was stressed upon to ensure the stringent protocols to be followed to safeguard the aerial transportation of pilgrims, the police press release stated.
While paying a visit to the JPCR at Baltal it was enjoined upon to ensure seamless coordination among all stakeholders involved in managing the affairs of SANJY-2024.
Additionally, IGP reviewed the access control mechanism at Domail, a security bandobast along the route from Srinagar to Baltal besides various camping sites en route and advised officers on the spot to fortify security measures and enhance safety parameters.
Following the inspections, IGP VK Birdi engaged in a constructive interaction with Police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) officers stationed at Baltal. Discussions centred on refining strategies to bolster security frameworks and optimize operational efficiencies, underscoring the commitment to a safe and incident-free Amarnath Yatra. (ANI)
