Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 9 (ANI): On the occasion of Moola Nakshatram people thronged the Kanaka Durga temple to worship Durga Devi who annihilates the evil, and blesses the devotees in her Saraswati form, the embodiment of the goddess of speech, remover of ignorance and illuminates the path of knowledge.
Students also worship the Saraswati Devi on this day to achieve success in all fields of knowledge. It is a common belief among devotees that the worship of Saraswati Devi bestows the welfare of all in the field of education.
The Moola Nakshatram day is marked as the birth star of Sri Amma who embodies the powers of Mahakali, Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati.
The period from Moola Nakshatram to Vijayadashmi is considered as auspicious and during Sharannavratra Mahotsav, Kanaka Durga will be adorned and worshipped as Sri Saraswati Devi.
Umakanth Sarma , the temple priest said that the celebrations of the seventh day started with great pomp and show.
“On the seventh day of Moola Nakshatram, devotees gathered in the temple and started the day with great pomp and show. May Saraswati Devi fulfill all the wishes of her devotees and keep them happy and content,” the priest said.
Meanwhile, in Kolkata, the famous Chetia Agrani Durga Puja, depicting the ambience of the temple city Kashi and the iconic ghats of Varanasi was celebrated on Tuesday night at the pandal and a symbolic Shiv Mandir Ganga Aarti was also held where the devotees gathered in huge numbers.
The famous puja held highlighted the issue of the pollution of the Ganga river, the water of which is used to worship deities. The organizers aim to convey the message that if the river is polluted, the whole society is polluted. (ANI)
