“BJP spokespersons answering on behalf of ECI”: Sachin Pilot ahead of ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ rally – World News Network

New Delhi [India], December 14 (ANI): Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday criticised the Election Commission of India (ECI), urging the poll body to rise above political leaders, ideologies, and parties and expressed concern that BJP spokespersons are speaking on behalf of the ECI, rather than the Commission addressing public concerns directly.
Ahead of his party’s rally against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) at Ramlila Maidan, Pilot said, “Across the country today, this question has arisen that fairness and transparency are disappearing from institutions. The attitude adopted by the Election Commission is very unfortunate. The Election Commission should work with fairness and honesty, rising above leaders, ideologies, or parties, which they are not doing… The Election Commission is unable to answer.”
Pilot further said that the “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” rally would serve as the voice of the people.
“Today we are organising a mega rally in Delhi, where workers from across the country will gather and, becoming the voice of the people, will ask the question why the Election Commission is not working impartially?” he added.
The Congress party is set to hold a major rally at Ramlila Maidan today, intensifying its campaign over alleged “vote chori” and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue. Party leaders have described the event as a crucial step in a decisive political battle against the BJP-led government.
This rally comes amid heightened political activity surrounding the Congress’s campaign against alleged electoral irregularities.
Earlier, tensions had flared in Lucknow on November 27 when Youth Congress workers staged a protest as part of the ongoing “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” campaign over the SIR issue.
The protest, which began peacefully, escalated after demonstrators attempted to cross police barricades and block key roads in the city centre while marching towards the Vidhan Sabha. Several Youth Congress workers were detained for refusing to disperse, a move criticised by party leaders, who alleged that peaceful democratic protests were met with excessive police action. (ANI)
