New Delhi [India], July 17 (ANI): Acting on the resolve of the Delhi Government to develop and maintain industrial areas in Delhi, Industries Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Wednesday met the representatives of the associations of factory owners from 27 different industrial areas at the Delhi Secretariat.
Senior officials from the DSIIDC department were also present at the meeting.
Talking to the trade organizations during the meeting, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the Delhi Government is serious about the development and maintenance of 27 unplanned industrial areas, stated an official release of the Delhi government.
He mentioned that the government has been working with trade organizations for a long time to develop these areas and has come up with a scheme for their revamp. Under this scheme, 90% of the costs associated with the layout plan for the development of these industrial areas will be borne by the Delhi Government, while 10% will be borne by the factory owners. This ensures shared responsibility between the government and the trade organizations in these industrial areas, he added.
During the meeting, Brijesh Goyal, Chairman of CTI, an apex organization of traders and entrepreneurs, requested the minister on behalf of all trade organizations to consider reducing the high fees for MCD map approvals in these 27 unplanned industrial areas.
Goyal highlighted that there are 29 authorized industrial areas and 27 unplanned industrial areas in Delhi. Factory owners from these unplanned areas have requested the government to include the cost of MCD map approvals under the scheme, the release mentioned.
Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj agreed to this demand and instructed officials to consider a policy where map approval fees are in line with the government’s scheme.
Vijay Virmani, President of the Delhi Manufacturing Federation, welcomed the Delhi Government’s scheme during the meeting. He stated that for the first time in 30 years, a government has taken an interest in the concerns of traders.
He mentioned that there are small factories in industrial areas like Dabri, Khayala, Hastsal, Nangli Sakravati, Nawada, Peeragarhi, Rithala, Mandoli, Haiderpur, Karawal Nagar, Shalimar Village, Samaypur Badli, Libaspur, Tikri Kalan, etc., where middle-class traders run their businesses.
Thousands of people work in these small industrial areas, which support the livelihoods of lakhs of families. Virmani praised the Kejriwal Government’s initiative as a commendable step towards making the lives of these millions of people easier and more comfortable.
He added that the development of these industrial areas will not only benefit the trader community but also promote industries, create new job opportunities, and improve Delhi’s economy. (ANI)
