Panaji (Goa) [India], July 27 (ANI): In a significant move towards sustainable energy and to boost solar energy adoption in Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the ‘Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan,’ an initiative aligned with the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
This new scheme is designed to enhance solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households in Goa to generate their own electricity.
CM Sawant stated that the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their electricity. He additionally informed that the scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and is to be implemented till FY 2026-27.
Further, he announced that the government of Goa, under the Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan, with an initial investment of 35 crore, in addition to the Central Financial Assistance, the Goa Energy Development Agency will bear the balance cost of the rooftop installation up to 5 kW for consumers consuming 400 or fewer units for the last year.
CM Sawant also urged all residential consumers, to strengthen the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan by availing of the benefits of a zero electricity bill.
Earlier, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lauded the Union Budget for focusing on a range of domains, saying that it is a “pro budget” for the villages, poor as well as the industrial sector.
“The way there has been major expenditure of defence, rural development, agriculture, education, IT, health, energy and software, commerce and industry, it seems that this is a pro budget for ‘gaanv’, ‘gareeb’ as well as the industrial sector,” Sawant said, speaking to the media on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister said that Goa will reap the maximum benefits from the Budget.
“From this budget, we will take the maximum benefit by way of infrastructure development, schemes, special proposals for Goa,” Sawant said.
“This is a budget that will fulfil the 25-year vision of Viksit Bharat given by PM Modi,” he added. (ANI)
