J-K Assembly elections: “Results a happy news for all of us,” says CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar, demands restoration of statehood – World News Network

New Delhi [India], October 8 (ANI): Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP P Sandosh Kumar stated on Tuesday that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He also remarked that the Congress party should learn lessons from the Haryana elections and adopt a more humble approach.
“The result in Jammu and Kashmir is good news for all of us because this election holds significance, being the first after the abrogation of Article 370. It is clear that the people of Kashmir have rejected the BJP’s policies, without a doubt,” the CPI MP said.
The election results for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly were announced earlier today by the Election Commission of India, with the National Conference securing 42 seats, the BJP winning 29, Congress claiming 6, and the JK-PDP winning 3.
Kumar further demanded the immediate restoration of statehood for the region and alleged that the BJP might attempt to control the people of J&K through indirect means.
“We demand the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. This has been our stance since the abrogation of Article 370. The BJP at the central level is controlling the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and I believe that even after this election, they may try to exercise control through indirect channels,” he added.
Addressing the Haryana elections, he commented, “The Congress needs to learn some lessons because certain Congress leaders believe they have everything under control. Congress must recognise the gravity of the situation, and some of its leaders should become more grounded. They cannot behave like ‘Rajas’ (kings) or presume to be mass leaders. They need to face reality.”
According to the Election Commission of India data as of 6:30 PM, the BJP is leading in 48 out of the 90 assembly seats, with Congress winning 37, four independent candidates securing seats, and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) winning two. (ANI)
