J-K: Police recover rusted arms, ammunition in Reasi – World News Network

Reasi (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 15 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered old-rusted arms and ammunition from a terrorist hideout in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said on Monday.
The recovery items include 30 rounds of AK-47, one magazine of AK-47 rifle, and one HE-36 hand grenade, as per the officials.
“Acting on reliable information regarding the presence of a terrorist hideout in the general area of Mahore Sub Division, a cordon and search operation was launched by the Reasi Police. The operation was led by the police party of Police Component Shikari, along with Deputy.Superintendent of Police PC Sarh Mahore, at Dalantop area of Mahore,” as per a press release.
During the search and cordon operation, the police party recovered old-rusted arms and ammunition from Dalantop area of Shikari, the police said in the release.
“While sharing the details, SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, said that all possible measures should be taken to thwart the nefarious design of anti-national elements,” as per the release.
Further investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has successfully eliminated three hardcore foreign terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran Sector of the Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the officials, on the intervening night of July 13-14, acting on credible inputs, multiple ambushes were laid along the appreciated route of infiltration.
Elaborating on the encounter with the terrorists, Commander of the 268th Infantry Brigade, Keran Sector, Brigadier NR Kulkarni, said that they had intelligence inputs of terrorists trying to disturb normalcy in the area.
Brigadier Kulkarni also mentioned that the terrorists were heavily armed, well-trained, and equipped with sophisticated weaponry.
“In the ensuing intense firefight, three foreign terrorists were neutralised. A detailed search of the area was subsequently carried out, which led to the recovery of large quantities of war-like stores,” he said. (ANI)
