Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 24 (ANI): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) candidate from Ranchi Assembly seat, Mahua Maji filed her nomination on Thursday.
Speaking to ANI, Mahua Maji exuded confidence in winning the upcoming Jharkhand election, scheduled in two phases, on November 13 and 20, with the results to be declared on November 23.
“I am 200 per cent hopeful (of winning) because the people of Ranchi are fed up…They do not see any development. People in the state capital are facing a lot of problems. It doesn’t seem to be the state capital. We will make Ranchi a metro city, we promise this today…,” she said.
Maji, a Rajya Sabha member, will contest against the sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA CP Singh. The Ranchi seat is considered a BJP stronghold that Singh has won six times.
Earlier in the day, Mahua Maji said, “I try to be with people during their good and difficult times. I try to solve their problems. The people and party have expressed confidence in me. I am confident that the public will elect me and I will work for them. The public representative should listen to the public. We have to solve the problems of the people.”
JMM has released its first list of 35 candidates for the upcoming assembly polls in the state, as per the list, Chief Minister Hemant Soren will contest from the Barhait Assembly constituency while his wife Kalpana Soren will contest from the Gandey seat.
Other candidates include MT Raja from Rajmahal seat, Dhananjay Soren from Boriyo, Basant Soren from Dumka, Hafizul Hasan from Madhupur, Bebi Devi from Damuri, Baidhnath Ram from Latehar and Kedar Hazra from Jamua seat.
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, accompanied by Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir announced that the JMM and the Congress would share 70 seats between them in the 81-member Assembly, and the RJD and Left parties would split the remaining 11. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections on Saturday. (ANI)
