New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) will continue their strike in solidarity with the rape and murder of the PG trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, according to an official press release from FAIMA.
The meeting conducted today between doctors and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare concluded without reaching an agreement.
FAIMA further said that they are waiting for the decision of the Supreme Court on this matter.
In a social media post on X, FAIMA wrote, “Today’s meeting between Doctors and the @MoHFW_INDIA concluded without reaching an agreement. As a result, @FAIMA_INDIA_will continue their strike. We are now awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court for further direction on this matter.”

The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder of a doctor in state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal.
A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear the case on August 20.
The body of the post-graduate trainee doctor was found in the RG Kar Hospital’s seminar room on August 9. The Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer the next day in this connection.
Calcutta High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation, after expressing a lack of satisfaction with the Kolkata Police.
FAIMA on August 13, decided to continue its nationwide shutdown of OPD services after having a discussion with the Resident Doctors’ Association in solidarity with the sexual assault and murder of a woman post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday launched no-hold-barred attacks on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and alleged that TMC supremo has destroyed the “crucial evidence” in the sexual assault and murder of a woman trainee PG doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, holding a press conference here today termed Mamata as the “destroyer”.
He said, “Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also holds portfolios of the Home Ministry and Health Ministry. Today all the people, women are angry and the public demands Mamata’s resignation. Mamata has become a destroyer.” (ANI)
