Mahayuti gearing up for Maharashtra polls, seat-sharing formula to be unveiled soon – World News Network

New Delhi [India], October 19 (ANI): The ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra is gearing up for the crucial assembly polls next month and is expected to announce its seat-sharing formula in the next few days.
Sources said following talks between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the seat sharing formula has been almost finalised.
They said seat-sharing formula for 288 seats in Maharashtra assembly was finalised in the national capital.
“The party led by Eknath Shinde group is expected to contest 85-90 seats, while Ajt Pawar may get 50 seats with the remaining seats will be contested by the BJP,” a source said.
Sources said the ruling alliance will benefit from the work done for people as also Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s accessibility among people. Schemes like Ladli Bahna Yojna, which is benefiting 2.3 crore people across all sections, and steps such as toll tax relaxation and Maratha reservation will also help the ruling alliance, they added.
A BJP leader said that the ruling coalition has considerably improved its position compared to the Lok Sabha polls.
“Fake narrative set by opposition during Lok Sabha polls regarding change in Constitution has now been busted. Haryana poll results are going to give us a lot of edge in Maharashtra elections. The worker is now charged up. Maratha voters will also vote for us in a big way as we have taken steps for resolving the demand for reservation,” he said.
Sources said the ruling alliance is in tough contest in some seats in Western Maharashtra such as Satara, Sangalli and Baramati but is confident of good showing.
BJP and Shiv Sena leaders said that NCP led by Ajit Pawar will also improve its performance compared to Lok Sabha polls. NCP won only one seat in the Lok Sabha polls.
NCP is focusing on key regions like western Maharashtra. NCP (UBT) chief Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar will be locked in a high-stakes battle in some of these seats.
Maharashtra will go to the polls on November 20 and the result will be declared on November 23. (ANI)
