Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 16 (ANI): After taking oath as Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Kumar Choudhary said on Wednesday that their priority will be to bridge the gap which has come in the last 10 years and along with it resolve issues like unemployment, electricity and water.
Deputy CM Choudhary also asserted that he hopes that the Centre will restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir soon.
“I have no words to thank our leaders Farooq Abdullah & Omar Abdullah for giving me such a big position. With his decision to make me the Deputy CM, Omar Abdullah has proved that Jammu is as important as Kashmir. The honourable Home Minister in Parliament has said that statehood will be restored in J&K. Today when we have been elected by the people here, we hope that Modi ji and Amit Shah ji will restore statehood soon,” he said.
“Our priorities will be to bridge the gap which has come in the last 10 years and resolve issues of unemployment, electricity, water, hospitals, schools and tourism. We will also work to resume Darbar Move again,” DyCM Choudhary said.
An Independent MLA Satish Sharma was also inducted in CM Omar Abdullah’s cabinet in the ceremony that was held today.
On taking oath, Independent MLA Satish Sharma said, “I congratulate the people of Jammu and Kashmir that they have formed a stable government. We have to serve the people. I also congratulate CM Omar Abdullah that he gave Jammu its due share. We hope that the central government will show a big heart and return the rights taken away from us.”
National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
L-G Manoj Saxena administered the oath of office to Abdullah and his council of ministers at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
This came after the Congress-National Conference secured 48 seats, with the NC winning 42 and the Congress only six seats in the Jammu Kashmir assembly elections.
This will be the first elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and the reorganization of the former state into two Union Territories. (ANI)
