“Situation in West Bengal not good regarding safety of women”: Sukanta Majumdar lashes out at TMC govt – World News Network

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 10 (ANI): Targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government over the death of the female post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said on Saturday that the CM can hide the data in the National Crime Records and call the state a good state but the situation in the state is not good regarding the safety of women.
“There is also a possibility of rape. The police have not said anything clearly till now; they said that there is an injury to the internal parts. I feel that it cannot be the work of one person. Circumstantial evidence says that more than one person was involved in it. You can hide the data in the National Crime Records and call the state a good state. But the kind of incidents that are happening prove that they are not in a good situation. The situation in West Bengal is not good regarding the safety of women,” Majumdar said.
Earlier today, Majumdar and West Bengal BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul visited the residence of the female post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor who was found dead inside the seminar hall of the government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Agnimitra Paul demanded a CBI investigation and a re-postmortem by a Central Government hospital after a second-year medical student was found dead at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Friday.
She said, “The condition in which her body was found, completely naked with bruises all over it, makes it look like she was raped and then murdered. We demand a CBI investigation. You can’t conduct a postmortem after evening, but they did it here. If postmortem is done under the state system, truth will be buried.”
Meanwhile, doctors at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi held a protest on Saturday in support of the female post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor’s death.
The protesting doctors were seen carrying posters and were heard sloganeering, “We want a CBI inquiry.”
Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Suvendu Adhikari, has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. (ANI)
