“They do not have any solid issue to discuss”: JP Nadda slams opposition’s demands to discuss Vinesh Phogat disqualification – World News Network

New Delhi [India], August 8 (ANI): Union Minister JP Nadda on Thursday hit out at the opposition for their demands to discuss the disqualification of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat and said that the whole country is standing with her, PM Modi called her “champion of champions” but unfortunately the opposition does not have any solid issue which they want to discuss.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha on Vinesh Phogat, Union Minister JP Nadda said, “The whole country is standing with Vinesh Phogat. The PM yesterday called her “Champion of champions” and the PM’s voice is the voice of 140 crore people. Unfortunately, we are dividing this between the ruling side and the opposition. Unfortunately, the opposition does not have any solid issue that they want to discuss for which the ruling party is ready. I want to assure you that the Government of India, Sports Ministry and IOC tried redressal on all platforms.”
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, “Yesterday I went to (Vinesh) Phogat’s house. Sadly, an Olympic gold medal was taken away. Her coach and uncle told me that her hair could have been cut. It was a matter of 100 grams, her hair could have been cut. I don’t know what our coach or physiotherapist is doing there. It is not her fault.”
In a big blow to India’s medal hopes in the wrestling arena, grappler Vinesh Phogat was earlier today disqualified from the 50 kg women’s wrestling event. Vinesh was scheduled to take on United States’s Sarah Ann Hildebrandt in the Gold Medal match. A statement issued by the Indian Olympic contingent said that Phogat had tipped the scales above the 50 kg mark and was disqualified.
Vinesh Phogat had entered the Gold Medal bout after beating Cuba’s Yusneylis Guzman Lopez 5-0 in the semi-finals on Tuesday night. (ANI)
