Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 18 (ANI): In a major development in various sectors, the Assam Cabinet on Thursday decided to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on CNG to 5 per cent and also approved funds for development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
To reduce air pollution through the use of clean fuel, the State Cabinet has approved a reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) from the present 14.5 per cent to 5 per cent up to March 31, 2027. This will rationalise prices of CNG for consumers and augment its wider adoption, said CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in a post on X.
For better medical care for cancer patients, the Cabinet has accorded approval to a financial sanction of Rs 200 cr for the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) for the implementation of the Assam Cancer Care Project for 2024-25. 17 cancer care hospitals are being established under this project in Assam which aims to benefit around 30,000 cancer patients every year.
To ensure that good governance initiatives are properly implemented in the three districts of Barak Valley, the State Cabinet has mandated that Cabinet Ministers will visit the region every month for 3 days. These visits will align with the Govt of Assam’s agenda of fast-tracking development in Barak Valley.
The Cabinet also approved a financial sanction of Rs 375 cr for the implementation of the Mukhya Mantri Ayushman Asom Yojana (MMAAY) for the year 2024-25. MMAAY is the State’s flagship family floater health assurance programme which offers cashless medical benefits up to 25 lakh per family, per year at Govt and empanelled private hospitals.
To ensure that various developmental works in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) are carried out on time, the State government has approved the release of Rs 401.50 cr to BTC. This amount is the 1st instalment for the financial year 2024-25 to BTC under the SOPD-G fund, the Chief Minister further added in his tweet. (ANI)
