New Delhi [India], August 25 (ANI): A senior Delhi Police official reported that an explosive device and four live cartridges were recovered from one of the accused arrested in connection with the Tilak Nagar firing incident.
On the same day as the Tilak Nagar incident, the accused also fired shots in the Dwarka North police station area over a property dispute.
Police officials received information on Saturday night about the movement of Vishu near Dwarka Sports Complex Road. Acting swiftly, a team of officers reached the location and confronted him. In response, the accused fired at the police, leading to a return of fire, during which he was apprehended.
Meanwhile, the police official stated that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Sanjay Bhatia, Additional CP of the Delhi Police Crime Branch, said, “Two days ago, around 11 pm, there was a shooting incident at Singla Sweets in Tilak Nagar. Two individuals arrived on a motorcycle, and the pillion rider fired shots outside the shop before fleeing. We have identified the motorcycle rider as Vijay, and we have arrested Vishu.”
He added, “Last night, we received information that Vishu would be heading towards Dwarka Sports Complex Road. We set up a trap, and when he was spotted, we challenged him. He opened fire, and we returned fire, eventually overpowering and arresting him. We recovered an explosive device and four live cartridges from him. During interrogation, he admitted that before firing at Singla Sweets, he had fired shots in the Dwarka North police station area over a property dispute. The investigation is ongoing, and we expect more details to emerge.”
On Friday, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at Singla Sweets in Tilak Nagar, Delhi.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 11:15 pm when unknown individuals fired at the shop, striking the front glass.
Following the report, the crime team and district operations unit responded promptly and arrived at the scene.
Delhi Police confirmed that an FIR has been filed under relevant legal provisions, and that the investigation is ongoing.
Four empty cartridges were recovered from the scene. (ANI)
