UP government allocates Rs 175 crores for disaster relief – World News Network

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 30 (ANI): To provide relief to those affected by various disasters, the Yogi government on Tuesday allocated over Rs 175 crores from the State Disaster Relief Fund, based on district requests.
Of this amount, Rs 120 crores had already been released for relief work, including assistance for flood-affected individuals, families, and agricultural grants. Recently, an additional Rs 36 crores has been disbursed, with the largest portion of Rs 30 crores going to Lakhimpur Kheri.
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen stated, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is deeply committed to providing all possible assistance to those suffering from natural disasters. He personally monitors affected areas and issues necessary instructions to officials. This proactive approach has led to a significant reduction in loss of life and property from disasters over the past seven years.”
He added, “Immediate relief is being provided to disaster-affected individuals. For the financial year 2024-25, the Yogi government has allocated Rs 175 crore 40 lakh 77 thousand 392 for various disasters. Of this amount, Rs 36 crore 75 lakh 77 thousand 392 have been released to six districts–Kasganj, Meerut, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur Nagar, and Mathura–for relief assistance to flood-affected individuals and families, agricultural grants, and other relief efforts.”
The Relief Commissioner highlighted that the largest allocation of Rs 30 crores has been granted to Lakhimpur Kheri. Other allocations include Rs 4 crores for Pilibhit, Rs 1.25 crores for Kasganj, Rs 1 crore for Kanpur Nagar, Rs 50 lakhs for Meerut, and Rs 77,392 for Mathura.
Previously, the Yogi government had released Rs 120 crore for relief measures. Additionally, Rs 10 crore were allocated before the monsoon season to prepare for relief work.
The Relief Commissioner also mentioned that Rs 54 lakhs have been released for victims of incidents caused by bull and Nilgai attacks, with Rs 30 lakhs allocated to Fatehpur and Rs 24 lakhs to Pilibhit.
Furthermore, Rs 64 lakhs have been issued to Balrampur, Pratapgarh, and Bijnor for human-wildlife conflicts, with Rs 28 lakhs for Balrampur, Rs 12 lakhs for Pratapgarh, and Rs 24 lakhs for Bijnor.
Additionally, Rs 65 lakhs have been allocated to Balrampur, Gorakhpur, and Pilibhit to address damage caused by unseasonal heavy rains and excessive rainfall. Of this amount, Rs 50 lakhs have been provided to Pilibhit, Rs 10 lakhs to Gorakhpur, and Rs 5 lakhs to Balrampur.
Furthermore, Rs 8 lakhs have been allocated to Mirzapur and Rs 4 lakhs to Auraiya to address heatwave impacts. Additionally, Rs 20 lakhs have been designated for storm-related damage in Balrampur, Pratapgarh, and Farrukhabad, with Rs 10 lakhs allocated to Pratapgarh, and Rs 5 lakhs each to Balrampur and Farrukhabad.
A total of Rs 3 crore 97 lakhs have been allocated for lightning-related damages. This includes Rs 20 lakhs for Gorakhpur, Rs 1 crore for Banda, Rs 20 lakhs for Farrukhabad, Rs 80 lakhs for Mau, Rs 24 lakhs for Chandauli, Rs 75 lakhs for Mahoba, Rs 20 lakhs for Gonda, Rs 8 lakhs for Bijnor, and Rs 50 lakhs for Chitrakoot.
For snakebite cases, the Yogi government has allocated Rs 2 crore 25 lakhs, with Rs 1 crore designated for Banda, Rs 50 lakhs for Chitrakoot, and Rs 75 lakhs for Mahoba.
Additionally, Rs 10 crore 16 lakhs have been allocated for deaths due to drowning across 16 districts of the state. (ANI)
