Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 23 (ANI): Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar held a meeting with officials from the Police Pensioners Welfare Committee at Police Headquarters to address the concerns of retired police personnel.
During the meeting, the DGP discussed solutions for the welfare of retired policemen and their families in detail.
The DGP assured the committee members that efforts would be made to resolve the pensioners’ issues. He also instructed all district in-charges to prioritize the welfare of women dependent on deceased police personnel.
To enhance communication, the DGP directed the creation of WhatsApp groups at the police station level, with all police pensioners included, ensuring their concerns are addressed locally. He also directed officials to set up dedicated cells in each district to manage medical reimbursements for retired personnel.
The DGP emphasized that every retiring officer from districts, battalions, units, and branches must become a member of the Police Pensioners Welfare Committee.
Earlier, Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar paid a courtesy visit to Governor Lt General (Retd) Gurmit Singh at Raj Bhavan and apprised him about the law and order situation in the state, a statement said.
He formally raised this issue in a representation to the state Chief Secretary, Radha Raturi, claiming that the UPSC’s decision violates a stay order issued by the High Court.
When asked about this, DGP Abhinav Kumar told ANI that he has given his representation to the state government after the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting held on September 30, on which the government is sending it to UPSC for reconsideration after taking legal opinion.
The DGP said that in the DPC meeting, the Chief Secretary had also given his dissent note as a representative of the state government, which is included in the minutes of the DPC. He said that he is sure that UPSC will reconsider the dissent note of the Chief Secretary, his representation being sent by the state government after taking legal opinion. (ANI)
