West Bengal govt to propose resolution against NEET, New Criminal Laws in upcoming assembly session: CM Mamata Banerjee – World News Network

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 13 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that the state government will propose a resolution against NEET and the new criminal laws, 2024, in their upcoming assembly session.
“When our Assembly session will begin, we will also have discussions regarding two important issues – NEET and the new criminal laws,” CM Banerjee said.
Chief Minister Banerjee said the new criminal bills have even scared doctors. She also stated that suspending 147 ministers from Parliament and passing the bill without any discussion is unacceptable.
“The BJP has again started with their ‘Agency Raj’. The new criminal bills that have been passed have scared even the doctors. Even journalists know how dangerous this bill is for them. Everyone’s freedom is at stake. Anyone can be a victim of this bill. To suspend 147 ministers from Parliament and pass this bill without any discussion is not acceptable,” she added.
Mamata Banerjee urged the current government to review the new criminal laws.
“There is a provision that allows the new government to review the decisions taken by the previous government in the last six months of their tenure. I request the current government to review the laws because criminal laws are very important. Police and lawyers are also unaware of the new changes in the law. We have no idea about it as well. Without giving us any scope to understand the bill, it was passed in Parliament. This will definitely affect good governance, the judiciary, the legal system, and the police,” she said.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also took a jibe at BJP’s performance in recently concluded assembly by-poll elections, saying except for 2 seats in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the mandate is in favour of the INDIA alliance, not NDA.
“The BJP has lost in the by-poll elections across the country, except for two seats in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, where they are in power. They have lost everywhere, and thus the trend across the country is also anti-BJP. The trend is very clear. The mandate of the people is not in favor of the NDA but in favor of INDIA. All the parties together in the NDA collectively got 46 per cent votes, while the INDIA alliance parties got 51 per cent votes. The mandate is against them,” she added.
“Ranaghat, Bagda, Manicktala, and Raiganj have political importance. Only the Manicktala seat belonged to us. However, due to a court case that has been going on for two years, the elections were not conducted here. Supti Pandey’s victory is a very good thing,” she added.
“A month ago, Krishna Kalyani was all set to win the Raiganj seat in the Lok Sabha elections. However, the BJP paid money to the Congress to split the votes and make him lose. I had assured him that he needs to contest again and will surely win. He had accepted the challenge, and today the people have supported him whole-heartedly,” she said.
“AITC will continue to work for the people of Bengal, for their safety and security, and to protect and nurture the culture of Bengal. We would like to dedicate our Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha victories to July 21 (the martyrs). We want to dedicate it to those who died fighting for their rights on that day,” she said.
“The central government wants to control everyone and put everyone under the scanner,” she said. (ANI)
